Job Description The C-17 Aircrew Training System (ATS) Training System Support Center (TSSC) Software Engineer performs logistics product support to ensure sustainment capability of C-17 Aircrew Training Devices (ATD). Position Responsibilities: oProvides sustaining engineering services to design and develop software modifications, upgrades and enhancements. o Researches and provides technical information used to develop and maintain the C-17 ATDs and engineering data. o Establishes systems support requirements, approaches and solutions; develops and documents processes. o Provides logistics support to influence product designs; determines and develops supportability-related design approaches and solutions. o Supports the data collection and analysis needs to respond to customer inquiries. Proposes, evaluates, validates and implements engineering changes. o Provides software engineering support for the development of ATS Training System Change Requests (TSCR).  o Investigates and corrects design deficiencies. o Addresses obsolescence issues. o Assists with mishap investigations, studies and analyses, cost estimates, and other sustaining engineering activities to ensure continued operation of the C-17 ATDs. o Evaluates proposed software requirements and changes, and recommends design changes to improve fidelity of the ATD software. o Validates developed prototype software changes and support installation and testing of software modifications. o Resolves software issues. o Conducts and supports design reviews. o Develops Technical Data Packages to document, maintain, update, and deliver the engineering data baseline(s) of each ATD and all associated training system assets for all modifications performed. o Monitors technical service bulletin, safety bulletins, and advisory updates from the ATD Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This includes analysis of safety hazards, failure causes and effects, root cause analysis of in-service problems to include deficiency reports, and development of required design changes to resolve operational issues. o Supports the upgrade and integration, as required, of the C-17 ATS's local and long-haul Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) systems and network. o This support includes the ATS's Threat Generation Systems and maintaining site DMO-related software, and associated operations documents. o When required, the ATS Software Engineer participates in the Mobility Air Forces (MAF) DMO Integrated Product Team (IPT) to understand current and emerging MAF DMO requirements and assist in defining and implementing interoperability standards, C-17 ATS integration requirements, and MAF DMO protocols. Qualifications This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): - Minimum of 3 years of software engineering experience - Experience with Higher Order Programming Language (preferably Ada, C/C++ and Visual Basic) - A current Secret U.S. Security Clearance   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): - Attach a detailed resume specifying your work experience and qualifications - Bachelors degree (or higher) in engineering- Most Recent Background Investigation (initial or periodic) must have been completed within the last 10 years- Experience with maintenance training devices- Experience with C-17 Maintenance Training Devices- Ability to work in a diverse environment- Strong decision making skills- Capable of working independently TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: o Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the required accreditation standard. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
